Overview
EduSpark Academy is a K-12 school with 800 students. Communication happened across 30+ WhatsApp groups, SMS chains, and paper notices — creating chaos for parents and teachers alike.
The Challenge
Teachers were managing 4+ WhatsApp groups per class. Circulars were printed and forgotten in school bags. Fee payment required physical visits. There was no single source of truth for attendance, homework, or grades.
Our Solution
Built a React Native app for parents and a web portal for teachers and admin. Features include: real-time attendance with push notifications when a child is marked absent, homework assignment tracking, fee payment via Razorpay, circular and event notifications, teacher-parent direct messaging, and academic progress reports.
The Outcome
Within one term: 94% monthly active parent rate (exceptional for a school app), zero paper circulars since launch, fee collection efficiency improved 40% (parents pay from home), and teacher communication load reduced significantly.
How we delivered it
Stakeholder Research (Week 1)
Interviewed 20 parents, 10 teachers, and principal. Mapped pain points, defined MVP feature set, and validated priorities.
UX Design (Week 2)
Wireframes for parent app, teacher portal, and admin dashboard. Tested with 5 real parents before development.
App Development (Week 3–5)
React Native app with Firebase auth, Firestore real-time database, OneSignal push notifications, and Razorpay fee payment.
Admin & Teacher Portal (Week 5–6)
Web portal for attendance marking, homework upload, circular creation, and fee management.
Pilot & Launch (Week 7)
Pilot with 2 classes (60 students), gathered feedback, bug fixes, then school-wide rollout with parent onboarding sessions.
